Celebrating Disability Pride Month with Cephable: Community Spotlights

July marks a significant time for the disability community as we come together to celebrate Disability Pride Month. This month is dedicated to honoring the history, achievements, and experiences of people with disabilities, while also advocating for greater inclusivity and accessibility in all aspects of life. At Cephable, we are committed to this mission as we work to empower individuals to control tech on their terms through innovative solutions. Our community and vision are deeply tied to the stories and feedback from our users. We are excited to join in this celebration of Disability Pride Month by launching our Community Spotlight Series.

What is Disability Pride Month?

Disability Pride Month is a time to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities and to promote awareness and education. It began in July 1990, coinciding with the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark piece of legislation that ensures equal rights and access for individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and public and private places. The month is a reminder of the ongoing need for equal rights and building a society that values and respects everyone.

The Significance of Disability Pride

Disability, whether visible or invisible, can occur at any stage of a person’s life. Everyone’s experience with disability is unique, and celebrating Disability Pride involves expanding our awareness of those living with disabilities and recognizing their valuable contributions. This increased awareness invites opportunities to shift perceptions, end stigmas, and promote the appreciation of disability as a natural part of human diversity.
