FAQ

Here you’ll find quick solutions to common issues, from voice controls to camera settings. Whether you’re adjusting your app controls or fine-tuning your inputs, this guide helps you get the most out of Cephable.

General

Does Cephable have any software requirements for my computer?

To ensure the best experience, we recommend using the latest supported versions of Windows and MacOS. Cephable is regularly tested on the current operating systems for optimal performance and compatibility.

Check your OS version here:

Windows: https://endoflife.date/windows

Additionally, some features such as text generation are resource intensive and will perform better on modern/faster hardware.

Cephable’s command overlay tells me my command is running, but it’s not doing the action I expected. Why?

Incorrect App Context/Focus: Cephable works just like a mouse or keyboard—it sends inputs to whatever app is currently active. If the app you want to control isn’t in focus (meaning you haven’t clicked into it), or you’re in a part of the app that doesn’t accept that input, the command may run but won’t have the effect you expect. Make sure: The right app is selected and active on your screen and that you’re in a part of the app that allows the action (e.g., a button is visible, or a text field is selected). Example: If you’re in Outlook and say “New Email,” the command will only work if you’re signed in and, on a screen, where the “New Email” button is visible.

Look for Conflict Banners: Check for any conflict notifications in the app that may be blocking the command.

I changed a setting, but it didn’t update or save as expected.

Check for Conflict Banners: Look for any conflict alerts in Cephable that may be causing the issue.

Sign Out and Back In: Try closing Cephable and then signing out and back into your account to refresh the system. If you don’t see a change, you can also log a bug and get support on this form.

AI Control Generator didn't create what I requested.

My Cephable Panel shifted on my screen. How do I move it back to the correct position?
  • Go to “General App Settings” and then swap locations in the drop-down menu under “Cephable Panel” to reset or move your panel position.

Voice & Dictation

I see my speech being processed, but Cephable isn’t typing what I say.
  1. Enable Dictation Mode: If you want Cephable to use “dictation mode,” press the dictation icon in your Cephable panel or say “dictate” to switch modes using global controls.
  2. Use a Trigger Word: In standard “Listening Mode” you can use the word “type” to enable dictation for a short sentence.
  3. Learn More: Explore Cephable’s step-by-step guides to understand more about voice modes and how to switch between them- Voice Overview
How do I get my Voice Controls & Dictation to be more accurate?
  • Check Microphone Position: Ensure your microphone is close to you for better sound detection.
  • Use a Headset: A headset with a microphone can improve accuracy.
  • Windows Voice Focus: Windows 11 computers have a Voice Focus microphone setting that reduces background noise and enhances clarity. Check your operating system’s microphone settings to enable this feature.

Face & Camera Controls

How do I get my Camera Controls to load?
  • First Load: When you start your camera in the panel, the initial load may take a bit longer as Cephable downloads machine learning models. Future loads will be faster since they are stored offline.
  • Check Camera Access: Ensure you’ve granted Cephable permission to access the camera in your computer settings.
  • Webcam Cover: Many laptops have a webcam slide cover. Verify your camera is not covered.
  • Windows Restrictions: On Windows, only one app can use the camera at a time. Close any other apps using the camera to allow Cephable access.
  • Use the Companion App: Alternatively, try using Cephable’s Companion app to control your computer via your phone or tablet camera, like a remote control.
Can I change how much I move my head/face to run camera controls?

Yes, you can adjust the sensitivity. Modify the sensitivity settings for head and face movements to trigger controls with larger or smaller motions. Learn more in our step-by-step guide, Sensitivity Settings
