Voice

I see my speech being processed, but Cephable isn’t typing what I say.
  • Try Dictation Mode: If you want Cephable to use “dictation mode,” press the keyboard icon on your voice overlay or say “Start Dictation.”
  • Use a Trigger Word: In standard “Listening Mode” you can use the word “type” to enable dictation for a short sentence.

Learn More: Explore Cephable’s step-by-step guides to understand more about voice modes and how to switch between them.  Using Voice Controls & Dictation

I want to type single letters for hard-to-spell words.

Use Default Keys & Buttons Profile: We recommend using a profile with “default keys & buttons” and enabling Optimistic Mode for typing single letters.

Camera Controls

How do I get my Camera Controls to load?
  • First Load: The initial load may take a bit longer as Cephable downloads machine-learning models. Future loads will be faster since they are stored offline.
  • Check Camera Access: Ensure you’ve granted Cephable permission to access the camera in your computer’s operating system privacy and security settings.
  • Windows Restrictions: On Windows, only one app can use the camera at a time. Close any other apps using the camera to allow Cephable access.
  • Use the Companion App: Alternatively, try using Cephable’s Companion app to control your computer via your phone or tablet camera, like a remote control. You can download the app on the Google Play store or Apple App Store.
Can I change how much I move my head/face to run camera controls?

Yes, you can adjust the sensitivity from the camera settings on the homepage. Modify the sensitivity settings for head and face movements to trigger controls with larger or smaller motions. Learn more in our step-by-step guide, Understanding Sensitivity Settings.

Profiles & Account Settings

Cephable’s popup window tells me my control is running, but I don’t see the output in my app.

This could be happening for a few reasons:

  • Focus on the App Window: Make sure the app or the specific area (e.g., text box) where you’re sending commands is selected and active.
  • Check Your Profile: Verify that you’ve mapped the correct keyboard or mouse control. Some apps may change shortcuts, or you may be using Mac key combinations instead of PC ones. Make sure it’s saved!
Things aren’t updating or saving correctly.
  • Check for Status Banners: Check the homepage to see if your wifi is disconnected or if there is a syncing error. Reconnect to the internet and give the app a moment to resolve.
  • Sign Out and Back In: Try closing Cephable and then sign out and back into your account to refresh the system.
AI Profile Wizard didn't create what I asked.
  • AI is Still Experimental: Our AI Wizard is labeled as “experimental,” and like all AI, it may not always be perfect. Try running your request again with more detail to get a closer result.
  • Use the Provided Profile as a Starting Point: You can always make edits to any profile generated by Cephable’s AI to better match your needs.

Do I have to use all the input types I see in a profile?

No, you can choose what works for you. Use as few or as many inputs as needed. To use spoken inputs, hit “Start Microphone.” For head movements or facial expressions, select “Start Camera.” If you prefer virtual buttons or motion controls, try Cephable’s Companion App on your mobile phone or tablet. You can run multiple controls at the same time as well!
